On the final stretch to the finish line

Back in May of this year I ran my 3rd ultramarathon - the Kettlefoot 50k. It was the inaugural event. I registered sort of last-minute, but was very happy to be able to make it. This trail race is about an hour away from my home so I was able to go to bed early in my own house, wake up early, and drive to the race in the pre-dawn hours.

The race consisted of two 25k laps. On the second lap, a couple of trees got uprooted and started crackling down on the trail ahead of me. I had to stop in my tracks! Otherwise I could have gotten squished.

There was over 4,700ft of elevation in this race. It was very steep and difficult - probably my hardest race up to this point. I'll have to check my finish time and update it here when I get around to it. I was really happy to get it done, and know I need to train more consistently for next year in order to have an even better finish that I would be proud of.
